Noctilucence by Matthew Penson

Longlisted for the OSP Poetry Competition

Standing in the blue, violet-heaven

I watch the carnelian orb descend

then search for night shining clouds

until my thoughts rest upon a mountain

naming prairie flowers in the sky

Somewhere far past the sea grass

along harpers lane

this pens soliloquies

my hearts dew drops

are daisies dreaming

weaving lilac rhymes of love

Hold my hand

across the distance

let’s walk in bluebell woods

once again, we’re sapphires lifted

your noctilucence
