False Moon by Helen Curtis

Shortlisted for the OSP Poetry Competition

Luna

light in moth's wing

the lumen and the snuff

wing paper to powder

desiccate        a stain on fingertip.

Phototaxis lure to detour

veer from moon by false light

moth's geometric genius fails

spirals inward     tantalised

gazes at fake moons

forgets to eat

dies in dazzle.

Moth wing peel

from weight of body

brief the life, the pouf

is all you were    body just meat.
